The Tomorrow's West Uusimaa network has chosen More Than companies as its partners in the project, which aims to open up new perspectives on the future of Western Uusimaa. At the heart of the cooperation is a regional foresight exercise, which will examine changes in the operating environment and build alternative visions for the future up to 2035.
The future of Länsi-Uusimaa is often discussed in terms of current pressures - economic, services, demographics and investment. The aim of the cooperation is to create space for a longer-term debate: what kind of region is being built, what choices lie ahead and what alternative development paths the future may offer.
The foresight is led by the CEO of More Than Strategy Oy Sointu Kouki, which states that forward thinking is an increasingly central part of regional development. In an uncertain environment, regions that can anticipate change, prepare for alternatives and take advantage of new opportunities in good time will thrive. From the West Uusimaa Network of Tomorrow, Antti Harjuoja (Inkoo), Kim Juntunen (Siuntio) and Petteri Ahomaa (Raasepori) will take forward the work on the future.
The foresight process results in a set of scenarios that provide a common language and framework to support decision-making and development. The scenarios do not predict one right direction, but help to identify uncertainties, identify key developments and facilitate a constructive debate on the future of the region.
The process will start with a survey of residents and stakeholders in the area to gather their views on the changes, challenges and opportunities in Länsi-Uusimaa. Based on the survey, preliminary scenarios will be developed, which will be further developed and finalised in a workshop with key actors in the region. In spring 2026, the implications of the scenarios will be discussed with both decision-makers and residents as part of a wider debate on the future direction of the region.
The Tomorrow's West Uusimaa network invites all actors in the region to participate. Future work is based on broad participation - the views of local residents, entrepreneurs, organisations and decision-makers all matter. A shared future is not a foregone conclusion, it is built together.
